Mantells

Mantells is the site of Auckland's former telephone exchange built about 90 years ago in Mt Eden in conjunction with Mt Eden Post Office (now "de Post" pub).

Inside Mantells four walls a large section of the roof has been removed to create a spacious courtyard containing 50 year old Phoenix palms. Wide verandas and an open fire complete the enchanting setting. Inside there is a large dining room, open kitchen, two private spaces and gracious, high-ceiling lounge furnished with an eclectic mix of wonderful antique pieces and sleek modern furniture.

Mantells was started 11 years ago by Annette and Colin Mantell. Daughter Jane, son John and partner Tania manage Mantells. Annette (owner of the acclaimed French Cafe for 16 years), John and Tania have years of experience in the preparation and service of fine food. Widely travelled, they bring the latest international food trends to Mantells. Chefs Adam Moy, Angela Parekowhai, Serge Robertson, Mafi Falekaono and Phillip Spilhaus complete our team of full time chefs. Francois Cooney, the city's best known and loved Maitre'D, is the other key member of Mantells Mt Eden.

Mantells is an Auckland functions centre situated in the middle of Mt Eden Shopping Centre. We are not open as a restaurant and accept only one function per day. Mantells is a BYO (for wine & champagne) functions centre available for private or corporate functions, weddings, product launches and parties seven days a week. We have a venue hire, food, drinks and staff charge.
