As many of you will have already noticed after 10 years as nkb gallery, we have rebranded as Föenander Galleries ahead of the new year.
2020 will be a big year for the gallery, as we ease into the rebrand following the launch of our new – and much needed website. The new gallery is looking to maintain much of the character and relationships built up over the past 10 years while innovating to present a fresh, contemporary look and feel to bring about the next phase of growth.
The gallery will continue under the direction of James Brown and Elle Föenander with a core stable of nkb’s artists – many whom have had long associations with the gallery, including Michael Dell, Des Helmore, Ramon Robertson, Glenys Brookbanks, Matt Palmer, Adrian Jackman, Neal Palmer, Matthew Carter, Paul Woodruffe and Barry Ross Smith – all of whom are scheduled to exhibit in 2020.
A number of new artists have joined the gallery over the last 12 months. The introduction of Belinda Griffiths, Cathy Carter, Oliver Cain, Jake Feast, Laura Williams, Simon Ogden, and Billy McQueen who has his first solo show at the gallery in March, adding a depth of youth, experience and quality.
2020 will also see the gallery host a unique fundraiser for mental health, as part of our ongoing commitment to the community and giving back. Beyond this, the gallery looks to participate in it’s first Art Fair both locally and internationally. You may have noticed from the use of Galleries (rather than gallery) we plan to operate not just with in the constrains of these four walls. We aim to curate pop up shows and events throughout the year in addition to the exhibition calendar in Mt Eden and a recently established partnership to be announced.
